Sleep is an important and familiar part of everyday’s routine. We spend almost one third of our life sleeping. It stands as one of the significant pillars related to our happy & healthy life.
”The body uses sleep time for internal housekeeping” stated Annet King. This is the time when body revives, renews, recharges and process nutrients for a fresh start next morning. This is the reason, we call it ”Beauty Sleep”.
If we do not give our body enough nutrients for nourishment during sleep and time to complete the process, imagine how cluttered next morning could become.
I have created this revival night cream with my knowledge to explain the true meaning of ‘Beauty Sleep’ inside out. This concentrate would provide our body essential nutrients from outside during sleep while our body is detoxifying & cleaning inside.
The challenge was to create a balance between new & ancient powerful ingredients, so I took a practical approach to involve our star ingredients from #Part1 Ageless Serum to give a double boost to this cream.
Based on my knowledge, 8 Key Ingredients to look out for in a Revival Night Cream are:
Ashwagandha (Winter Cherry)
Winter Cherry, also known as Ashwagandha, the magical herb, is considered to be nature’s gift to mankind. For centuries, due to its muscle relaxant properties Ayurveda used it to treat people for their day to day woes such as stress, anxiety, exhaustion and lack of sleep.
Ashwagandha stimulates DHEA, which is a precursor to both testosterone and estrogen and stimulates the production of natural skin oils.
Winter Cherry also promotes the production of vital compounds and proteins for healthy skin such as hyaluronan for skin hydration, elastin to keep the skin supple and collagen for skin strength.
Its potent antioxidant properties help protect the skin against free radical damage and slow down the ageing process by firming up your skin for a more youthful look.
Ashwagandha enables the body to reserve and sustain vital energy throughout the day while promoting sound, peaceful sleep at night.
These varied benefits are what makes Winter Cherry or Ashwagandha a go-to choice in our Night Cream.
Hibiscus (Hibiscus Sabdariffa)
A staple in Ayurvedic medicine and Chinese herbology with the most powerful anti-ageing plant actives, it is no wonder Hibiscus is termed as ‘The Botox Plant‘.
Hibiscus flowers are a natural source of Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) which exfoliate, speed up cell rejuvenation, control breakouts, and promotes elasticity of your skin. It tones, hydrates, and firms the skin naturally.
Hibiscus also has potent antioxidants, which are called “anthocyanocides.” These not only protect the skin from environmental stressors, but also help pores to appear smaller. It is also great for sensitive skin.
It’s overall magic on several layers of skin providing amazing anti-ageing results draw me strongly towards it.
Lotus [Nelumbo nucifera]
Ancient Hindu and Buddhist writings linked the lotus flower to serenity and purity. It’s said to promote soothing and calming of skin.
Lotus intensely hydrates and moisturises the skin to promote skin elasticity and complexion, reducing fine lines, fading brown spots and wrinkles.
Lotus is known for its purifying effect on skin. It minimises the pores on skin which makes the skin look fresh and vibrant.
In skin care, ginseng is valued as an anti-aging ingredient because it has so many phytonutrients, and it helps tone and brighten skin.
Ginseng has the natural ability to balance skin oils. Its catechic, gallic tannins & chlorogenic acid content help fight against infections and redness of skin, providing evenness & luminance to the skin.
The combination of anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties of ginseng make it effective ingredient to reduce dark circles & under eye puffiness, hence perfect match for our night cream.
”The Duchess of Cambridge, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Victoria Beckham and Miranda Kerr have all been reported to use rosehip oil to keep their skin smooth and blemish free.” as stated by Popsugar Beauty.
Rosehip See Oil contains vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids well known to reduce dark spots and hydrate dry & itchy skin.
Vitamin A in Rosehip Oil also improves the skin’s moisture levels and help reduce wrinkles, fine lines, scars & stretch marks.
The antioxidants trap free radicals minimising the damage from stressors, and vitamin A, combined with the oil’s essential fatty acids, help improve skin tone, texture and pigmentation.
Known to many runway & supermodels, rosehip oil is a specialist to luminate and glow your skin while you sleep.
Gotu Kola [Centella Asiatica]
Gotu Kola, also called Centella Asiatica is an ancient healing plant making a comeback in the modern science of preventing skin aging.
Gotu Kola was termed as”Latest Anti-Ageing Skin Breakthrough: An Ancient Herb” by Melanie in #Forbes in May 2014.
The herb is listed among Legends of Herbs in Ayurveda for thousands of years. Chinese medicine has listed it among the ‘’Miracle Elixirs of Life’’. In Thailand Centella is drunk as cold beverage and considered a Turn-Back-The-Clock Health Tonic.
Gotu Kola helps calm inflammation, speed wound healing, stimulate new cell growth, build collagen, and improve circulation, all while you sleep.
Gotu Kola is rich in amino acids, beta carotene, fatty acids, and numerous potent phytochemicals. Researchers found that Gotu Kola fuelled the growth of new skin cells and increased “tensile strength” and resilience of skin.
Gotu Kola effectively penetrates the skin to deliver useful anti-ageing results, hence a significant raw material in our ingredients.
Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline [DPHP]
DPHP has antioxidant properties which promotes triple action skin firming. It adds long lasting moisturising to promote plumpness of skin.
DPHP is known as a ‘Wrinkle Corrector’ for the Ageing skin. It helps lift, remodel and soften the skin for a more youthful appearance.
DPHP stimulates the correction of collagen fibres and promote skin support tissue. It is a effective anti-ageing & protective ingredient to rejuvenate stressed & dull skin.
Aloe Vera has been used since ancient times. “Since the skin needs nutrition of its own, Aloe Vera, when formulated into a properly designed personal care regimen, can treat, exfoliate, restore, reveal and provide constant, impressive nutrition to the human skin.” Bill C. Coats wrote.
Aloe leaves contain a plethora of antioxidants including, beta carotene, vitamin C and E that can help improve the skin’s natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.
Aloe Vera is filled with more than 200 compounds. As stated, Aloe Vera is perfect to deliver all the actives effectively into the skin.
With the above actives used in one cream, the concentrate would cover all the aspects to rejuvenate, renew and refresh tired skin while we sleep.
If we add #Part1AgelessSerum with this #Part2MidnightRevivalCream to our everyday routine, it would provide our body powerful nutrients which would delay ageing as well as reveal youthful and bright skin providing complete anti-ageing solution.
